How do i upgrade my CPU to 2.4 dual core ghz or better?
I have a dell inspiron 530s slim case with 2gb of ram, 250gb of hard drive, a 1.6 ghz dual core processor, and i want to upgrade to a 2.4 dual core processor or better. Which processor should i get and how do i install it???
Unfortunately Dell's website does not specify the motherboard (usually their own) that they are using or how high of a processor you can put in this PC.
Be aware if you decide to purchase a new processor or motherboard:
a. Don't do this while still under warranty unless you purchase through Dell (over priced but safe). If you do, it can void your warranty.
b. If you purchase a new motherboard (say if your current one does not support the CPU you want), you will need to make sure your memory is compatible, and integrated sound and video (unless you want to purchase all of these cards as well).
c. If you just purchase a new CPU, make sure you check out the manual on Dell's website on how to install it. They have pretty good instructions.
